take TWO

it's a big deal in LA when you have your film screen for the first time at the director's guild. it's one of those industry events much like receiving your first fed-exed work travel plane ticket. of course those little ego joys no longer exist due to TECHNOLOGY!

anyway, my film Freaked was in fact having its screening at the guild's theater. it is a large theater and i had no idea what to expect, but was excited to see the movie for the first time. it had been the craziest job i had ever had. (keep in mind i had already done a movie about a caveman/but i had not yet been cast to act opposite millions of cockroaches either.)

the screening was turning out to be much like the film making process. not only did powerful producers and studio executives show, but also lots of very cool LA scene-sters. all the people involved with the production from the directors and producers to the THREE special effects houses to the production assistants were all interesting, talented and people you would want to invite to a party. mr. t was in the film for crying out loud! so it would be appropriate that the guest list to the movies's first public showing would be equally eclectic.

if only i could remember who i went with. yikes. i think it was a friend. i know it wasn't my future husband because anthony kiedis had no problem striking up a conversation with me before the movie started. or right after the movie finished. or at the after-party. or in the parking lot while i was waiting for my car. geez! this was a chili pepper!!! i was flattered but honestly a little scared. and besides, for all the rockstar mojo, he had nothing on my michael.

believe it or not, i was actually rather shy in those situations. i mean, i just stood there in the lobby staring at keanu trying to decide whether to say hi. i worried he wouldn't remember me. um, first of all megan, he JUST watched you in the movie he MADE OUT with you in!!!

so there you have it. wish my memory was better. i know there were lots of cool things that happened that night, but those are the only two things i remember. i guess it really was a good party...

  4. OK, so I guess two truths were revealed in one blog.... Such a cute story. But the best part, imo, was that The Red Hot Chili Pepper could not hold a candle to your future husband. awwwwww

Thanks for keeping your word and blogging this weekend. Hope Audrey and you enjoyed your girls only weekend.

  5. Haha, made out with Keanu!!! And the Hot Chili pepper could not hold a candle to your Michael... seriously, so nice to read this blog!

I can only imagine how you were at that big screening, just starting out in the business, and being so young with all the bigwigs and "in" people at that event. Thanks for remembering those two things and giving us another wonderful story from your amazing life! Hope the girls weekend is a blast!

  7. Megan, you've had such an exciting life. So many great experiences. I mean getting hit on my a Chili Pepper is BIG for a kid. But I'm sure he couldn't hold a candle to Michael.

Too bad you weren't keeping a journal so you had all the details written down! Maybe you should start now! Have any unused journals hanging around?

I loved freaked! It was such a fun movie. I think we (my ex and some friends) may have been in an altered state when we watched it. I just remember that we thought it was OSCAR worthy! Ah, the good old days!

Anyway, thanks for the bedtime story. You've made Saturday nights very special. But then again, you make everything special when you connect with us.

    You're the best Megan!

    love, peace and happiness always,

  8. Thanks for another truth Megan. This is so much fun. I really don't mind waiting for them, because I know they will all be "freakin fantastic" to read. I'm still in the game. hehe

Thanks Megan for the best week of GH in ages -- well more like a year. Those scenes will keep me entertained until we see you again. Honestly can't wait.

The very nice and generous Shakira AKA Shae even made me a new avi. I post it in the c-box every so often to entertain others. I bet you can't guess what it is. ;-)

    hawttt

Thanks again for doing these "behind the scenes" stories for us. You are awesome!!

    Linda

P.S. Shae made other new avi's that I'm sure others will share with you. cough Sarah cough

  15. Thanks, I enjoyed the story. I must be the only Megan fan that has not seen the movie (busy doing leverage buy-outs in 1993) -so I "wiki it" this morning-very interesting and a huge write-up-- Beach Blanklet Bingo meets The Evil Dead where you are Julie -the hard willed but attractive young environmentalist.

1993 was not that long ago--possibly--you are forgetting the rest of the night on purpose or worried that your husband reads your blogs. LOL.

I will have to see the movie.

  32. Sorry I am so late...But niceeeee killed 2 truths in one blog. Is it such a bad thing that I am enjoying still being in the game? I still stand strongly by my belief that you should just write an autobiographical book. You have had more excitment in your life then that Jackie O chick ;-p and lets we be honest we all know it would fly off the shelves.

But all joking aside....thank you for another wonderful blog & an amazing interview in SOS. It was great to read about your reflections on Kate or in this case the journey of your career. To steal a quote from GH..."you never cease to amaze us all". The best part of it all though is that no matter where you have been, or who you have meet...that no one holds a candle to your Michael. In a world gone to often crazy mad..To have someone be your northern star, your shelter in the cold, and the one who keeps you focused is always a reason to consider yourself blessed =-)~
